We would like to introduce you to 88bikes. The 88bikes Foundation endows bicycles to girls throughout the world, especially the heroic survivors of human trafficking. We will be donating a bike with every home sale for the remainder of this year! We are so impressed with the passion and drive behind this organization and are proud to help in any way we can! check out their website below and recent excerpt from their newsletter (our very own Local Johnny’s hosted)
Cheers and Happy Spring Riding
Next month 88bikes will deliver 130 bikes to women and girls in a remote corner of Mongolia (which is, pretty much, every corner of Mongonlia). Ironman Bronze finisher and 88bikes board member Danielle Goold and her husband Ryan will lead a supported, 2-day bike ride with dozens of these girls to the ancient city of Karakorum. All costs for supporting the ride have been generously absorbed by the local government in Arvaikheer.
88bikes first visited Mongolia in 2010, endowed 200 bikes, and inadvertently helped foment the first bike club in the region, which is still growing and going strong. We have also learned that since our visit there are now at least three coffee shops in Arvaikheer town, which is three more than there were last time. We’d love to take credit for this too, but that’s probably a stretch. Thanks to Peace Corps volunteer Perrin Krisko for lining things up on the ground.
Thanks to Danielle, Ellen, Harry, Lauren, Ryan and everyone in Cave Creek and Fountain Hills, Arizona, for putting on two barn burner events last month. It’s great to welcome a whole bunch of new folks to the 88bikes family! Thanks to State Bicycle for donating the sweet ride for the raffle, thanks to a host of local businesses for in-kind donations, and thanks to Local Johnny’s and McDowell Mountain Cycles for hosting.
